This series explores solutions to physical inactivity through the lens of the <strong>World Health Organization\u2019s Global Action Plan on Physical Activity (GAPPA)<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following earlier discussions on <strong>Entornos activos<\/strong> y <strong>Active People<\/strong>, this session will focus on <strong>Active Societies<\/strong>, examining how <strong>social norms and attitudes<\/strong> shape participation in physical activity across different contexts. He has published more than 30 peer-reviewed research articles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr Mclaughlin is also active in the media, for example, in <a href=\"https:\/\/theconversation.com\/profiles\/matthew-mclaughlin-346591\/news\" title=\"\">The Conversation.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dr Chlo\u00eb Williamson<\/strong> \u2013 University of Edinburgh, Scotland<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"501\" height=\"401\" src=\"https:\/\/ispah.tecology-hosting.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Chloe-Williamson-profile-picture.jpg\" alt=\"Chloe williamson profile picture\" class=\"wp-image-34990 size-full\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr Chlo\u00eb Williamson is a Lecturer in Physical Activity for Health, based in the Physical Activity for Health Research Centre (PAHRC). In this role, she contributes to physical activity related teaching and research across the wider Institute.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dr Victor Damilola Ademola<\/strong> \u2013 University of Lagos, Nigeria<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Victor Damilola Ademola is a Nigerian sports and exercise physiologist, lecturer, and sports media entrepreneur. He holds a B.Sc. (Ed.), M.Sc. (Ed.), and Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Lagos and teaches with the University\u2019s Institute of Continuing Education. Through Ademola Victor TV, he reaches over one million followers across social platforms, promoting Nigerian sports and championing physical activity and wellness across diverse populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"425\" height=\"531\" src=\"https:\/\/ispah.tecology-hosting.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Victor-Ademola-Passport-Photo-1.jpeg\" alt=\"Victor ademola passport photo\" class=\"wp-image-34988 size-full\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His research centers on increasing physical activity and reducing sedentary behavior (especially screen time) with publications in peer-reviewed journals and active membership in professional associations. As an accredited sports journalist, he has covered the Paris Olympic Games, the Africa Cup of Nations, the Women\u2019s Africa Cup of Nations, and multiple FIFA World Cup qualifiers. He also volunteers with youth programs that keep young people active and off the streets, and leads community sessions that help older adults in Nigeria stay physically active.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dr Joey Murphy<\/strong> \u2013 South East Technological University, Ireland<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/ispah.tecology-hosting.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Joey-Murphy-720x1080.jpg\" alt=\"Joey murphy\" class=\"wp-image-34986 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ispah.tecology-hosting.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Joey-Murphy-720x1080.jpg 720w, https:\/\/ispah.tecology-hosting.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Joey-Murphy-640x960.jpg 640w, https:\/\/ispah.tecology-hosting.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Joey-Murphy.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Joey Murphy is an Assistant Lecturer in Physical Activity, Health Promotion and Research Methods at the South East Technological University, Ireland. Dr. Murphy&#8217;s current research includes projects focusing on physical activity advocacy, NCD prevention in Bangladeshi children, and exploring the health benefits of being active in blue spaces. He has experience of communicating his work to other researchers, practitioners and policy makers through previous roles at the University of Bristol and the Irish Physical Activity Research Collaboration. In addition, he has also engaged with media outlets, such as the BBC, to share <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/crggp2eg86yo\" title=\"\">research outputs <\/a>to a wider audience.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Together, they will share insights into how communication, education, and advocacy can strengthen positive cultural norms around physical activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide is-style-wide--3\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-x-large-font-size\"><strong>Who should attend?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide is-style-wide--4\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This 60-minute session is designed for <strong>ISPAH members<\/strong> and will be available live via Zoom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recordings will also be made available to members who are unable to attend due to time zone differences.
